“I’ve been around the world chasing wildlife, but nothing prepared me for this. We watched a mother bear and her cub graze just yards away while standing in complete silence. I thought I’d be nervous, but our guide made it feel effortless—and safe. This wasn’t a tour. It was a privilege.”

Pace and Place
-
This immersive Alaskan journey features daily walks of 1 to 3 miles across uneven, natural terrain, including sedge meadows, boreal forests, and temperate rainforests, along with short hikes on mountain passes and coastal trails. Expect soft ground, muddy paths, and occasional steep or slippery inclines—especially in remote bear-viewing areas around Lake Clark National Park and along the rugged Kenai Peninsula.
While observing coastal brown bears, you’ll often be walking in waders, navigating shallow streams, wet meadows, and tidal flats to reach the best vantage points—adding an extra layer of adventure and requiring stable footing.
-
Expect cool mornings and evenings, often in the 40s to low 50s°F (4–10°C), with daytime highs that can reach the mid-60s°F (16–20°C) on sunny days, but may feel much colder with wind or rain, especially near glaciers and on the coast. Sudden rain showers and fog are common, and strong coastal winds can quickly change conditions.
