“I’ve been around the world chasing wildlife, but nothing prepared me for this. We watched a mother bear and her cub graze just yards away while standing in complete silence. I thought I’d be nervous, but our guide made it feel effortless—and safe. This wasn’t a tour. It was a privilege.”

Your Day-by-Day Journey Through Japan
-
Welcome to Anchorage, where the comforts of Alaska’s largest city meet the distant hum of the wilderness. This isn’t just a stopover—it’s the threshold to adventure. You’re at the edge of the last frontier, and the pulse of wild Alaska is already in the air.
After your airport pickup and hotel check-in, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. Take a walk along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, visit the Anchorage Museum, or relax with a local craft beer as bush planes buzz overhead.
In the evening, we gather for a welcome dinner and trip orientation. It’s more than logistics—it’s where names become stories, strangers become fellow travelers, and the wild begins to feel real. Tomorrow, the bears await.
-
This morning, we fly to King Salmon and board a floatplane bound for Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park. It’s one of the most iconic bear viewing destinations in the world—where brown bears wait patiently atop waterfalls, jaws open, timing their catch with precision.
After landing and orientation, we hike to the viewing platforms and enter a front-row seat to nature’s rawest spectacle. Bears spar, fish, rest, and roam. Wildlife photographers will find no shortage of drama. In the late afternoon, we fly back to King Salmon for the night.
-
We rise early and return via floatplane to Brooks Falls for another full day of bear immersion. With platforms placed at multiple points along the river, you’ll witness varied behaviors—mother cub dynamics, territorial males, and endless salmon runs.
Guides help decode the action, offering insight into seasonal bear activity, conservation efforts, and the unique Alaskan ecology that sustains this ecosystem. It’s not just about the photo—though you’ll get plenty—it’s about seeing bears as they are: wild, powerful, and deeply intelligent. We return to King Salmon again this evening.
-
After one last morning flight to Brooks Falls, we soak in a final round of bear viewing before returning to King Salmonand catching our connection to Homer, a coastal town at the edge of the Kenai Peninsula. The contrast is striking—salt air, art galleries, and fresh seafood replace the hush of the forest.
Settle in and explore the Homer Spit or grab a pint at a local brewpub. This evening is yours to reset before heading off the grid tomorrow.
-
This is where the trip pivots toward the truly wild. We load into bush planes and fly wherever the bear activity is strongest on the Bear Coast. These are places with no roads, no crowds—just bears, water, and sky.
We land on beaches, then move on foot with expert bear guides. Expect up-close sightings, and the kind of silence that makes you feel fully alive.
-
Welcome to Brown Bear Bay Lodge—a luxury wilderness retreat bordered by boreal forest and private sedge meadows. No roads. No cell service. Just nature at its purest.
Spend the afternoon exploring the surroundings or watching bears right from camp. The lodge offers comfort without compromising wild. Gourmet meals, cozy suites where you can literally bear view from your bed and wide decks set the stage for unforgettable evenings.
-
Here, we leave the platforms behind. We walk quietly, respectfully, following coastal brown bears through sedge meadows, across tidal flats, and into their natural routines.
Guides with decades of experience help interpret subtle body language and shifting behavior. These are the moments most travelers never get to experience—and never forget.
-
Another full day to explore the bear coast. Maybe a mother and cubs cross the meadow at sunrise. Maybe a young maletests his strength. Or maybe the tide brings in an entirely new rhythm to the day.
We go with what the land offers. This is adaptive wildlife viewing at its finest—untamed, unscripted, and far from any itinerary in a brochure. Expect stunning photography, powerful stories, and meaningful connection.
-
We say goodbye to the lodge and the bears and take to the skies once more. Flying back to Homer, you’ll see the coast in a new light—having lived in its rhythm for days.
Back in town, enjoy a farewell dinner and some well-earned rest. It's a moment to let it all sink in.
-
We part ways with full hearts and memory cards overflowing. After breakfast, share one last moment with the group before heading out. Some may travel onward, others home—but all leave changed.
The bears, the silence, the air—Alaska stays with you.
